H.E. Per-Arne Hjelmborn, Ambassador of Sweden to Spain, and Samira Grylin-Allalou, Trade and Invest Commissioner to Spain, were pleased to welcome participants to the Spain-Sweden Regional Business Forum. The event brought together key actors from Sweden and the Basque Country to promote industrial innovation and sustainable transformation. The forum highlighted opportunities for bilateral collaboration, strengthening business ties, and fostering a shared vision of sustainable, innovation-driven industry. The day included an interactive roundtable and visits to strategic projects in Bilbao, allowing participants to engage directly and explore innovative regional initiatives firsthand.

The forum will focus on the implementation of the EU Green Deal Industrial Plan in Spain, strategy aiming to enhance Europe’s competitive and resilient industrial landscape. The strategy presents opportunities for collaboration between Swedish and Spanish industries in key sectors such as green manufacturing and mobility, regulatory simplification and sustainable procurement. The event will feature expert insights, strategic roundtables, and networking opportunities to explore innovative solutions and unlock collaboration opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

As part of Sweden’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, leading Swedish and Spanish companies in the green hydrogen sector met yesterday to exchange knowledge, ideas and experiences. The shift to green hydrogen brings major opportunities and will contribute to the objectives of the EU Hydrogen Strategy and the REPower EU plan. Business Sweden coordinated today’s event in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Madrid, Spain.

In September 2022 we launched the Sweden + Spain Green Alliance, a joint initiative between Business Sweden, Embassy of Sweden in Madrid, Spain, Cámara de Comercio Hispano-Sueca de Madrid, Cámara de Comercio Hispano-Sueca de Barcelona and nine leading Swedish companies in Spain. We are coming together to work for a more sustainable planet and are fully committed to work with our Spanish partners to realise Spain’s 2050 sustainability strategy.
